Canada child tax benefit

Responsibility : Agence du revenu du Canada

If you have dependent children and separate or divorce, you must notify the Canada Revenue Agency of the change in your family situation. The Agency is responsible for the Canada Child Tax Benefit and pays it to the parent who lives with, takes care of and is responsible for the education of the child concerned. In some cases, the change in your situation can make you eligible for other benefits or increase the amount of your current benefits.

To notify the Agency, download the form Marital Status Change (RC65) and send it to the Agency.

Note

You must wait 90 consecutive days after separating before notifying the Canada Revenue Agency.
