If you have dependent children, you must notify the Régie des rentes du Québec of any change in your conjugal situation, since it may change the amount of child assistance payments to which you are entitled. The amount of the payments will be backdated to the first day of the month following the change. However, you will have to wait for 90 days from the date of a separation to notify the Régie of the change.
