Determining the amount of child support

The Québec model applies specific guidelines for calculating the amount of child support payable on the basis of :

• the children's needs;
• the parents' earned income;
• the parents' custody time.

Note

If one of the former spouses lives outside Québec, the federal guidelines are used to determine the amount of child support payable.
