If you lived with your former spouse in a civil union and if you both agree on all aspects of your separation, the procedure is simple. The dissolution of your civil union takes places before a notary. If you disagree, however, you must call on the services of a lawyer to present the relevant proceedings before the court.
Once your civil union has been dissolved, you can enter into a new civil union or civil marriage with a spouse of the same or the opposite sex.
